At its annual Microsoft Build developer conference in Seattle on Tuesday, the company announced a series of AI updates to make both Bing and ChatGPT smarter, more intuitive and potentially more ubiquitous.
ChatGPT gets up to date
Now ChatGPT answers can be grounded by search and web date and include citations.
New plug-ins come to Bing chat
Microsoft introduced third-party plug-ins from companies such as Expedia, Instacart and Zillow to its Bing chat conversations.
Co-pilot gets spotlight
Microsoft is also expanding its AI “Co-pilot”, which helps edit, summarize, create and compare documents, across Windows 11.
User safety and protections
Microsoft said it is using a new technology that will help users determine if images are AI generated based on information included in their metadata.
2/ AI startup Figure raises $70 million to build humanoid robots
Figure, a startup that wants to build general-purpose humanoid robots, has raised $70 million from investors led by Parkway Venture Capital in its first external round. The valuation of the one-year-old company was not disclosed, but a source close to the firm put the value at over $400 million.
Figure differentiates from other robotics companies by developing robots that can handle general tasks, with an eventual goal to enable them to learn and interact with the environment. Big tech companies and startups are racing to develop the next commercially viable humanoid robot.
3/ Adobe adds generative AI to Photoshop
Adobe's new AI features in Photoshop will make it easier for untrained users to create high-quality content and monetize it.
Adobe is rolling out Content Credentials and CAI to create more transparency and trust in photos and videos shared online, and to compensate artists who contribute their work to train its AI.
